Meet Jessica Wazen, super mum and boss woman
Jessica Wazen is a singer, a chef, an entrepreneur, a mother to two sets of twins and all-round boss! The epitome of a strong, independent woman, Jessica is an inspiration. To mark Mother’s Day, we speak to Jessica about how she successfully manages to juggle a busy home life while carving out a successful, demanding career.
You’re a mother to two sets of twins and a wife with a successful career, you have broken some barriers! What did you dream of doing as you grew up?
When I was young, I pictured myself having a large family with lots of children, dogs playing in the yard, and driving big SUVs. However, as I grew older and decided to pursue a career as a chef, my goals changed. I became more interested in traveling and exploring different cuisines. But after meeting my husband, I realized that I could have both of my dreams come true. It takes a lot of work, but we are enjoying the ride.

Your work sounds incredibly varied. You’re a chef, a singer and an influencer - how do you balance a busy home life with such a demanding career?
Finding balance can be challenging, but I have found that establishing a daily routine at home that aligns with my children’s schedule has been the most effective approach for me. By doing this, I can easily accommodate my plans around theirs. Understanding our priorities is crucial, and we must recognize that they may evolve over time. Additionally, I am grateful that I can cook and sing whenever and wherever I want, which gives me a sense of control over my time.
You have had and continue to have an impressive and varied career; please can you talk us through some of your personal highlights?
I’d say my highlights include the songs I’ve recorded and my culinary career. I trained as a chef and spent time in London working with top Michelin-star chefs including Alain Ducasse, Yannick Alléno and Gordon Ramsey. I also manager my own catering company.
What advice do you have for women who are worried about pursuing a career and family life?
My advice would be not to be too critical of yourself. Your family should always come first, and it’s important to establish a solid routine at home. Once you are confident in your role as a mother and managing your household, you’ll be able to direct your focus toward your career with greater effectiveness.
What are your future career goals and what else do you hope to achieve?
I have too many goals, and I’m not sure where to begin! My mind is filled with numerous ideas, concepts, and projects that I would like to pursue. However, I understand that, at present, my family and home require my attention. Although I aspire to have a location where I can cook and host events in the future.

What are your favourite activities to relax and have some time out to yourself?
Working out, pilates and padel. I also love to go dancing with my girlfriends – and driving, that’s a form of meditation to me.
What’s the best piece of advice your mother gave you?
Like rubber bands, when we exert too much pressure on ourselves, mentally or physically, we will eventually break or snap.
